HARTHILL WELL
DESSING 2010
Harthill in keeping with the
Derbyshire tradition dress the village well.
This takes place on the Monday
evening of carnival week. The theme is always kept a secret until the
unveiling. The well is then blessed by the vicar afterwards entertainment is provided by the resident dance sides in the village:-
Three Shires Ladies Clog Dancers
giving displays of dances from the mill towns of the North West.
Harthill Morris Dancers a men's side
dancing dances from the Cotswolds villages as collected by Cecil Sharpe.
After the ceremony both sides retire
to the Blue Bell village pub for refreshments
and more dancing and a pleasant time is had by all.
